Rory Gilmore
Though Rory Gilmore has a classic New England style that still looks fashionable today, her Chilton uniform is the one most often recreated as a Halloween costume.
Rory’s school uniform costume typically includes a blue plaid skirt, a navy blue sweater vest or blazer, and a collared shirt. Accessorize with knee socks, saddle shoes, and a yellow backpack. You can replicate this look on a budget with items you already own or by buying cheap uniform pieces online. This style, along with the white fisherman “Rory Gilmore” sweater, of course, shows Rory’s studious, preppy personality.
Lorelai Gilmore
Lorelai Gilmore has the most sophisticated and sought-after style in Stars Hollow, Connecticut, but arguably her most iconic outfit to wear as a costume from Gilmore Girls was something quite different: the Season One “cowgirl meets businesswoman” look that she threw together in a flash when she woke up late on one of the most pivotal days in Rory’s life.
In Season 1, Episode 2 of Gilmore Girls, “The Lorelais’ First Day At Chilton,” one of the best fall episodes of Gilmore Girls, Lorelai Gilmore unexpectedly oversleeps and quickly dresses in a short, pink tie-dye T-shirt, cut-off denim shorts, and cowboy boots, topped with a long coat. This unconventional outfit contrasts quite starkly with Chilton’s formal atmosphere, prompting Rory to ask whether the rodeo is in town.

Luke Danes
If you love pouring coffee, coffee, coffee, this Luke Danes costume is perfect for Halloween.
Our beloved owner of Luke’s Diner isn’t exactly known for fashion in Stars Hollow. Instead, his look is classic American male: a flannel shirt, jeans, and a backward baseball cap. To style your hair like Luke Danes, aim for a rugged look. Keep your hair short with a slightly messy texture. Add a backward baseball cap to complete the look. It’s what Lorelai famously gifted him, after all!

Sookie St. James
If you’re a foodie, a Sookie St. James costume is perfect for this Halloween. We all love Lorelai’s best friend and business partner at the Dragonfly Inn for her bright, colorful chef clothes made specifically for her job. Fun fact: Sookie also often wears a Band-Aid to highlight her clumsiness in the kitchen.
I’m guessing you probably love her for her charming, down-to-earth, bubbly personality, as well as her loyalty, too. So feel free to giggle often while wearing this costume — or maybe even belt out some Ricky Martin or “cookies for the love and the Dean.” (If you know, you know.)
